Electric Insect Killers, Perfumes, Sticky Surfaces Or Fans?
There are many ways to keep annoying insects such as mosquitoes, flies, gnats, etc. at a distance. The electric insect killer is the safest – but which device and which method (technique) is the right one for my needs? Which device contributes to effective pest control?
There are now countless insect killer techniques and methods to get rid of the annoying visitors or to keep them at a safe distance. Like the classic electric exterminator with power grid, with scents, sticky surfaces or fans.
Whether in the kitchen, canteen, large areas, sales rooms, production facilities or offices. The need for adapted solutions is also increasing in animal breeding and livestock farming. This article is intended to provide an overview of the basic ways in which flying vermin can be fought. In addition, we would like to be at your side as an advisor and give you an insight into manufacturers, performance classes and areas of activity.
Electric Insect Killers (Current Traps)
These are the classic electrical solutions (electrical insect killers) in the high-performance range – they work by killing the unpopular pests by electric shock.
The advantage is that these devices are very low-maintenance and powerful. The disadvantage is the risk of fire. Since there is high voltage inside the device and sparks are generated, it must be clarified whether these current traps are suitable or permitted for fire police in their environment.
In particular, we would like to refer to the Insect-o-Cutor electric insect killers. These electrical traps are highly developed, offer a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty and have certificates required for the food industry such as ATEX, IP65 or IPX4. Regarding performance classes we speak of areas from 30 m² up to 300 m² which can be achieved by one device! Never say goodbye to Mosquito, Mosquitoes and Co. when they hit the charged grid! Fragrances Drive Away The Insects
Fragrances are the most bloodless way to control an insect problem. Classically there is a fragrance spray and a fragrance dispenser, which takes over the dosage and in which the highly effective insecticide (natural or without chemicals) is integrated and thus camouflaged.
The fragrance dispensers usually have a device for wall mounting. They are equipped with a timer or an interval switch, which makes dosing and scenting throughout the day possible. Here it is important to check the fragrance dispenser regularly whether there is still enough fragrance in the cartridge.
Mounting and adjusting the dispenser is only half the battle:
- and similar animals;
- adhesive surfaces, adhesive traps – insect traps.
Glue traps and insect traps work in exactly the opposite way to the above-mentioned scent dispersal. This is about killing insects that enter the area of action of the insect killer. And this is done as quickly and purposefully as possible – the beasts are attracted and killed with an attractant. The classic mechanical method here is the insect trap, which is equipped with an adhesive surface. As lures serve here perfumes which attract hungry or mating insects. Usually, however, it is an electric UV light (illuminant) which pretends to be the sun and thus the annoying insects are attracted by the light. Flies, mosquitoes and wasps are attracted by this insect killer.
Once they have penetrated the inside of the device, they are already on a high-performance adhesive surface. A light strip is enough and the insect sticks to the flycatcher. The adhesive surfaces have to be changed according to frequency and insect infestation in order to provide as large an area as possible for the unwelcome visitors.
Fan Traps (Fan Insectkiller)
Fan insect killers or fans Traps function mechanically, a rotating fan disposes of the insects. It is attracted again quite classically by a fragrance or some UV light. The effect is intensified by the air suction of the fan. However, the high speed of the fan wheel does not allow any of the intruders to survive. These fan traps run on electricity or on a battery (rechargeable battery). If there is no socket, the adapter for the cigarette lighter serves as a power source. So very practical for spontaneous use, when camping, in the closed garden house or for everywhere simply to take with you when you are on the road, so that later in the tent no annoying murmurs and flies are!
A high performance representative in this segment is the “MO-EL Turbine” which works according to the same principle as the Mo-El “Fan”. However it has a multiple of effect and power. The turbine is especially recommended for livestock breeding and agricultural operations. Because there are no sparks like with electricity traps! In this case, however, the Mo-El “turbine” achieves a very high effective range.
Power Classes And Effective Ranges
As a rule, the devices are always manufactured for certain facilities. It has to be decided whether special certificates like HACCP insect killers (food, public area, fire protection regulations) are required for the area of application. Furthermore, the range of action and the mode of operation is a parameter. An electrical device with a 16 watt power grid would have to be installed 10 times on a 400 m2 stall of a livestock farmer to kill flying insects.
The electric insect killer model from the same house with 60 Watt can reliably manage this area alone. Furthermore, the optics plays a role – pay attention to the adhesive traps, which resemble elegant wall lamps and do their unattractive job discreetly and nobly. Pest control can also look aesthetic and still be effective.
